Why are Pedigree Cats so expensive?
Yes, it is quite true, Pedigree Cats are expensive, infact very expensive.
One has to think in terms of 400 Euro - 700 Euro for some species. But, of course, you can expect something for your money, i.e. a healthy kitten with a good sound Immune System, thoroughly de-wormed and naturally a friendly character and human orientated.
To give you a little more transparency, here are some of the approximate costs, which a reputable Breeder has by raising a kitten for 13 weeks or even more.

Mating Fee: 410 Euro

Leukemia Test
For mother, which most Stud Owners require: 50 Euro

Food and litter per kitten (4th-13th week or even longer): 130 Euro

Vaccinations per kitten : 150 Euro

de- worming : 5 Euro

Pedigree: 25 Euro

TOTAL: 425 Euro

In addition to this there a costs for travelling forth- and back, as most Studs do NOT exactly live just around the corner. These and the following things are not included in the above price. Also to consider is that there might be some veterinary costs for possible complications during birth or even after, possible sickness of mother or/and kittens. There are other expenses such as Shows, toys, or possible replacement of the odd furniture, which kittens have damaged over a certain period of time. So, is all this not worth it, to pay a certain price for a kitten, which has been raised with all possible love and attention ???? The work involved for any Breeder cannot be paid high enough, it is purely for the love of the Breed, that Breeders are entitled to charge a certain price for their kittens.
